HOME協会案内ご挨拶Message from Gregory L. Tilford
Dear fellow animal lovers,
It is a great pleasure to be honored with the opportunity to serve as an Honorary Advisor to the Japan Animal Wellness Association.
Fifteen years have passed since I began my work in the field of botanical veterinary medicine. During this time I have learned much about using natural medicines, foods and methods to improve the health, happiness and longevity of the companion animals we so dearly love. But despite all of the scientific knowledge I have gained, I now see the greatest rewards of my experiences have come from something much deeper--- a certain realization that when human love and intellect are applied to the health of animals, the rewards are shared by all. That which heals them, heals us too--- and the practice of learning and honoring their ways makes us better people.
Albert Schweitzer said it very well, "Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to mankind. Until he extends his circle of compassion to include all living things, man will not himself find peace."
People like you and I understand what Schweitzer was talking about. We are finding a new kind of inner peace in our relationships with our animal companions. It is a peace that comes from love, a willingness to learn, and a kind respect for the natural ways of non-human creatures. They are not like us--- their needs are very different--- but as we learn to extend our precious gift of human intellect to them--- in the form of proper care that serves their needs and not just our own. In turn we find ourselves healing the human condition in the process.
By the mere fact that you are reading this you have already the joined the ranks of a new breed of animal lover. A breed of special humans that is spreading throughout Japan to assure a healthier, happier future for all who inhabit planet Earth.
It is time for us to pay our gifts of wellness forward--- and Japan Animal Wellness Association is here to help us do just that.
I am very happy to be part of this wonderful effort, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with you. Together we will create a better world--- for you, for me, for the animals we so dearly love.
For the Love of Animals,
Greg Tilford
